Trademarks and Intellectual Property Law

This session in an introduction to trademark and copyright law.  The session will cover the basic legal principles of trademark and copyright law, as well as the hows and whys of use, protection, registration, and enforcement.  Attendees will leave with a better understanding of when, how and why they should protect their own materials. 

David A. Payne, founder and Principal of Trademarkwise LLC, has practiced intellectual property law for more than thirteen years, and has handled over one thousand U.S. and international trademark, copyright, and intellectual property matters for clients around the world.  David's experience includes U.S. and international trademark and copyright clearance, prosecution, registration, licensing, litigation, dispute resolution, and client counseling.  Prior to founding Trademarkwise®, David practiced trademark, copyright, and patent law with the intellectual property firms of Casimir Jones, SC and Medlen & Carroll, LLP.  David is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law and the University of Michigan, and is admitted to the State Bar of Wisconsin.
