Has Your Board Looked at Themselves in the Mirror Lately?

Hosted by:  Bruce Moffat

Nonprofit Management Consultant

Nonprofit boards’ of directors are charged with evaluating a lot of things:

  • Overseeing environmental scans as part of strategic planning
  • Evaluating whether programs and services are fulfilling the organization's mission
  • Conducting performance appraisals of executive directors

But how often do they evaluate their own performance?

Join Bruce for an informal discussion about creating a culture of self-reflection and accountability in nonprofit boards.  As a former nonprofit executive and former nonprofit board member, he has seen boards who "walk the talk" and others that view evaluation as just a one-way street. He'll also share some tools for board evaluation.

Bring both your success stories and your "teachable moments"!

Bruce has extensive experience in nonprofit management in a mix of leadership, program management, and resource development positions. He has also conducted numerous training workshops - in both English and Spanish - as well as facilitated a variety of group processes. He spent nearly a decade living and working in Latin America, working with nonprofits in the community development and conservation sectors. He has worked with numerous nonprofit and governmental clients over the years, ranging from Wisconsin-based to national to overseas groups. His areas of experience include board development, strategic planning, organizational assessment, grant writing and fund development.
